When students earn college credit in high school, they are more likely to pursue and obtain a post-secondary credential.

The chart below shows the 10-year trend in Texas dual credit program enrollment.3 This graph tells us that participation has been steadily increasing. The next step might be to examine the point-in-time data to find out more about participants (e.g., Are there particular dual credit programs that are more popular? Are participation rates similar among different populations of students?). Examining both longitudinal trends and cross-sectional data gives a more holistic picture of college and career readiness.

What opportunities do students have to earn college credit in your high school? Are there existing partnerships between your school and post-secondary institutions in your district?
