Graduate receiving diplomaChanges due to HB5 have begun and will be fully implemented by the 2016-2017 school year.

These new graduation plan requirements will affect freshmen entering high school during the 2014-2015 school year, although the new plans will also be available to some students who entered school prior to 2014. Students graduating in the 2013-2014 school year (including the summer 2014 session) who meet the requirements for the foundation program graduation plan may opt to graduate under that plan. Graduating with an endorsement, a distinguished level of achievement, or a performance acknowledgement will not be an option for 2014 graduates.

The SBOE has decided to allow Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to choose which courses will meet the criteria for the advanced math, science, and ELA credit requirements.3
